The facilities provided by the International Program for Advanced
Studies in Astrophysics ``Guillermo Haro'' can make a very substantial
contribution to these areas of research. The possibility of putting
together a team of world-class researchers (
or so) for a
significant period of time (4-5 weeks), in a pleasant environment,
with the necessary research tools and far away from every-day life
distractions is a unique opportunity that can lead to very significant
and rapid progress.
A long successful history of collaboration between us (INAOE) and our participants in Mexico, France, Spain, Switzerland, Italy, UK, Germany, will guarantee a natural and immediate advance and transfer of knowledge during the workshop. These existing collaborations and those that will, no doubt, develop will allow the participants to concentrate from the start on specific research work, away from administrative and teaching duties. Moreover, despite the advances in telecommunications, the importance of direct contact over timescales longer than those provided by international meetings and conferences cannot be overemphasised, particularly regarding INAOE students.
We plan to organize two public lectures on subjects related to the Workshop.
