HISTORY
The National Institute of Astrophysics, Optics and Electronics (INAOE) was created by presidential decree on November 11, 1971 as a decentralized body of public interest, with legal personality and its own assets, located in Tonantzintla, Puebla, with the following objectives:
Prepare researchers, specialized professors, experts and technicians in astrophysics, optics and electronics.
Seek the solution of scientific and technological problems related to the aforementioned disciplines.
Orient their research and teaching activities towards overcoming the conditions and solving the country's problems.
With this decree, the INAOE has the power to teach courses and grant master's and doctorate degrees in the various disciplines that are developed within it.
