Abstract

We present results from CCD UBVRI photometric observations up to V = 19 mag and polarimetric observations up to V = 13 mag in the region of the small open cluster Lyngå 1.

In this work, we re-determined the cluster reddening and its distance modulus, obtaining E(B-V) = 0.44, (Vo - Mv) = 11.2 respectively. We estimated that its age is between 100 and 125 Myr. The mass function slope were calculated and its value is x = 1.41.

We have also found that the bright red star in the field is likely to be a cluster member. If this is the case it would be a red supergiant of Luminosity Class II. Our photometry suggests that the R value in the region is anomalous (R = 3.6).
