Thank you very much for your participation. We are looking forward to your co-operation to a timely publication of the proceedings of this conference. The proceedings will be edited by M. Chavez, A. Bressan, A. Buzzoni & D. Mayya and will be published by the Kluwer Academic Publishers.

Instructions for preparation of your Manuscript

Invited talks, contributed talks and posters are given 8, 4 and 2 pages respectively. Please prepare your contribution using the Latex macros and example files that are available at Kluwer. Alternatively you can dowload an example file (Kluwer example file modified to include a figure) and the macro kluwer.cls directly from here.

If you haven't filled and handed over the Consent to Publish & Transfer of Copyright form to us, please download it and send it by FAX to us at 52-2-2472231.

Deadline for manuscript submission is 15 May 2001.

Stellar astrophysics still provides the basic framework to decipher the imprints left-over by the evolving Universe on all scales. Advances or shortcomings in the former field bear direct consequences in our ability to understand the global properties of the latter. The aim of this conference is to bring together astronomers working in stellar astrophysics and cosmology, with the goal of addressing key problems in those branches that, though independent by themselves, are necessarily connected on a cosmological scale. Among the fields where this link appears outstanding, we have selected the following broad topics.

Topics

The Role of Stellar Atmospheres
Population Synthesis in Cosmology
The Oldest Stars
Primordial Chemical Composition
The Local Universe: Distance Scale
The Local Universe: The Star Formation History
Cosmology with Supernovae
