SECOND ANNOUNCEMENT

Dear Colleague,

This is the second announcement for the conference:

New quests in stellar astrophysics II.
Ultraviolet Properties of Evolved Stellar Populations,

to be held in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico on April 16 - 20, 2007.

In this announcement you will find a preliminary list of invited speakers, information about the venue, registration fee and abstracts. The scientific program and cultural activities during the week of the conference will shortly be posted in our Web site:

Please update your information by clicking REGISTRATION at that site, if you are already pre-registered. If you are not pre-registered yet, you can still do so by following the above link. The deadline for filling the registration form is 15th February 2007.

REGISTRATION AND REGISTRATION FEE:

We have incorporated a new link in the website were you can register and confirm your registration. Those who pre-registered will be able to update their information by including their electronic mails. If you are registering for the first time fill this new link. Should you find
any problem please contact us at puerto07@inaoep.mx.

The registration fee for this conference is US$300.00 for participants registering before 15th February 2007. The registration fee will be US$350 for registrations after this date.

The registration fee includes

  • A copy of the conference proceedings (to be published by Springer  Astrophysics and Space Science series).
  • Reception on Sunday evening
  • Morning and afternoon coffee breaks, Monday to Friday

The fees should be paid to the LOC at the registration desk in cash
(Mexican pesos, US dollars or Euros).

ABSTRACTS:

The registration form contains space for including abstracts of your contribution, which can be in simple text or in LaTeX format. A book containing all the abstracts will be given to all the participants at the beginning of the conference. The deadline for receiving abstracts
is the 15th of March, 2007.



CONFERENCE LOCATION AND HOTEL:

  Hotel Melia Puerto Vallarta

The conference will be held at the Sol Melia Puerto Vallarta Hotel (rooms Madrid and Barcelona), which will also be the principal Hotel for accommodation to the conference participants. This hotel is a five star category with private beach and wide tourist facilities.


 The special rates for standard rooms are as follows:

 Single Occupation: 1749 pesos/160 US$/120 Euro/night
 Double Occupation: 1150 pesos/105 US$/ 80 Euro/night/person
 Triple Occupation:  916 pesos/ 85 US$/ 65 Euro/night/person

 (prices in US Dollars and Euros are, respectively,
 considering an exchange rate of 11 pesos/USD and 14.5 pesos/Euro)

 These prices include

  • Breakfast (buffet), Lunch (buffet) and Dinner (buffet or served)
  • Snack as well as National and International drinks and beverages  (from about 10:00am to midnight)
  • Recreation and sports services at the beach and the swimming pool,  (gymnasium, tennis courts and equipment, night shows, etc)
  • A wide variety of amenities for kids from toddlers (or younger!) to teenagers
  • Tips and Taxes

 The special prices will be available for those who plan to extend their  stay for a few more additional days.

 Please note that the hotel reservations must be done directly to the hotel  by filling the form available at the web site and returning it to the  hotel by email or fax. SOCIAL ACTIVITIES:

Puerto Vallarta offers a wide ranging outdoor activities. Information on these activities and visits to local sites of interest will be posted on the web page. Ample time will be provided to enjoy the natural beauty of the place. We are planning an excursion on a pirate boat replica on Wednesday afternoon. The conference dinner will be on Thursday night. Please visit the conference page for updates on these topics.

HOW TO REACH PUERTO VALLARTA:

Puerto Vallarta is connected by direct flights with most major cities in Mexico and many cities in the US and Canada. There are also direct flights from several european cities. Please check with your travel agent the option which is more convenient to you.


 IMPORTANT NOTICE:

Please check whether you need a +++VALID VISA+++ to enter Mexico. Visas can be issued by any Mexican embassy or  consulate. Should you require an invitation letter from the LOC, please let us know.
