HOW TO REACH THE WORKSHOP SITE

Route via Mexico City airport

Most international flights come to the international airport Benito Juarez in Mexico City. Two direct bus lines connect this airport with Puebla: one to the main bus station CAPU, and another one to a small bus station in the Puebla center, called 4 Poniente. Buses leave the Mexico City airport approximately each 30 minutes during a day, with one bus going to CAPU and another one to the 4 Poniente. We recommend that you take a bus to the 4 Poniente bus station, which is closer to the Institute Campus. It will be safer and simpler for you to take the taxi there. Now the cost of a one way bus ticket is 280 in Mexican pesos. It will take you 2 - 2.5 hours to reach Puebla, depending on the traffic.

When arriving at the Puebla bus station, find an authorized taxi ticket box and pay there for you trip to the institute. Please do not use offers from the illegal taxi drivers. In 4 Poniente bus station, the ticket box is just a few meters from the place where your bus stops.

You have to ask for a taxi to Tonantzintla, Instituto Nacional de Astrofisica, Optica y Electronica, also known as a Tonantzintla Observatory.

Taxi drivers will be happy if you leave them 10-15 Mexican pesos as a tip. It takes about 30-40 minutes to reach Tonantzintla from the 4 Poniente bus station and about 20 minutes more from the CAPU. The cost should be about 120 - 150 Mexican pesos if you use a 4 Poniente bus station.

There is a 24 hour guard in the Institute. The guardhouse is located near the gates, just at the entrance to the Institute Campus. The key from your bungalow will wait for you there. The guards will help you to find where your bungalow is.

Route via direct flight to Puebla

You may also fly directly to Puebla from Dallas or Houston, and then take a taxi in the Puebla airport to the Institute, as explained above. The price should be about 250 - 300 Mexican pesos.

THE WEATHER INFORMATION

Puebla located in a valley flanked by volcanoes at the altitude of about 2200 meter above the level of ocean. This results in a significant contrast between the midday and midnight temperature. It is usually warm during a day but the temperature drops after the sunset. Besides of that it is a raining season now. Thus we recommend to have besides of shirts or blouses a light jacket or jumper to feel yourself comfortable during the day time and at the night. It is also recommended to bring an umbrella, despite it will be useless during a heavy rainfall. Certainly, those of you who is planning to visit El Tajin at the gulf of Mexico should not forget about the bathing dress.

LOOKING FORWARD TO SEE YOU SOON AND HAVE A PRODUCTIVE WORKSHOP!
